Bike Walk Madison goes live   by jay on Apr 17, 2009

Planet Bike's hometown, Madison, WI, has a new grassroots advocacy group looking out for bicyclists. Bike Walk Madison had our launch party on Wednesday, April 15. About 65 people met at the stunning new Atwood, er I mean , Goodman Community Center off the Isthmus Bike Path. Many thanks to the Underground Food Collective for good eats and to biker and serial restaurant entrepreneur Christoper Berg for a quenching local brew.

The plan is to work toward the implementation of Madison's shiny new Platinum Bike Planning Report. The stars seem to be well-aligned to take Madison to the next level in bike and pedestrian friendliness. Our alt-trans friendly Mayor Dave, a promising Safe Routes To School initiative taking shape, our first "Sunday Parkway" scheduled for August...it's looking real good. And it's 70 degrees and sunny today. I think I'll go out for a bike ride...
