Team PB Shines at Cross Nationals on Dec 17, 2009
Madison, WI -- December 17, 2009 -- Planet Bike is proud to announce the accomplishments of its cyclocross team at the 2009 US Cyclocross Nationals in Bend, Oregon December 10-13.
The team is composed of riders at all ages, many of whom have previously won National Cyclocross Championships at the Junior, Elite, and Masters levels. At this year's National event 16 Planet Bike riders participated in the various age group and Elite races. Successful performance by all resulted in 4 National champions, 2 silver medals, and one bronze.
Planet Bike riders were a dominant force on the second day of racing as Ian Haupt (Men Juniors, 13-14), Diane Ostenso (Women Masters, 55-59), and Sarah Huang (Women Juniors, 15-16) each claimed the gold medal in their respective age categories. Linda Sone (Women Masters, 35-39) and Kaitlyn Antoneau both battled fierce competition and a muddy course to claim the 2nd step on the podium in their categories.
Anticipation grew for the elite categories on Sunday, December 13. Katie Compton did not disappoint, riding away from all challengers in the women's race to claim her 6th straight national championship jersey by nearly one minute. Team members Kaitlyn Antonneau, Linda Sone, and Kristin Wentworth fought vigorously for 12th, 14th, and 22nd.
The men's elite race had no shortage of talent as Jonathan Page powered himself into 3rd place while teammates Mark and James LaLonde finished 26th and 34th.
